The Andrology Clinic Laboratory at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans offers a range of specialized tests and consultation services for the evaluation of male infertility. In addition, we provide training in standardized semen analysis and quality control management, mainly for FDA-required drug safety clinical trials sponsored by pharmaceutical industries. Our laboratory has been certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) since 1995 and is equipped with the latest technology, including an AI-based Computer Assisted Semen Analysis (CASA) system.

Since 1989, our laboratory has provided routine and advanced semen analysis, assessing a man’s fertility potential. These analyses include:

- Sperm Morphology (Strict and Non-Strict Criteria)
- Sperm DNA Fragmentation (Single Strand and Double Strand)

- Antisperm Antibody Evaluation (Direct and Indirect)
- Retrograde Sperm Retrievals and Analysis
How is the specimen collected?
Each patient is given a sterile cup and specific instructions for their specimen collection. Semen specimens are collected onsite in a private room. Alternatively, semen specimens can be collected at home but must be delivered to our lab within one hour of collection.
